U.S. new jobless claims rose to nearly 8-month high last week

The number of new jobless claims in the United States continued to rise to 262,000 last
week, an increase of 2,000 from the previous value and hovering at a nearly 8-month high.
The market had expected 260,000. During the period, the number of people who
continued to apply for unemployment benefits rebounded by 12,000 to 1.428 million,
compared to the original market expectation of 1.42 million. The data showed signs of a
gradual slowdown in job market growth. Minneapolis Fed President Kashkari said the July
consumer price index was an "first sign" that U.S. inflation may slow, but did not rule out
the need to raise interest rates, remarks may help limit the dollar's decline potential.
